Shaping the tofu will depend on the size of your waffle maker. For the Dash mini waffle maker, a square shape that is ½” thick works best. But for a larger waffle maker, you may need to cut thicker slabs to fill all the crevices of the waffle iron.
Microwaving the tofu helps dry out the tofu slabs, reducing the time in the waffle maker. This also means you don’t have to wait to press the tofu!
Keeping the lid closed allows the tofu to form a crust and come out of the waffle iron without sticking. Use a heavy pan to make sure the waffle maker stays closed!
Storage & Reheating: Tofu waffles can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about a week. To reheat them, bake them at 350°F for 5 to 10 minutes in the oven or 3 to 5 minutes in the air fryer.
