Hi! I'm Sarah! I'm so glad you stopped by the Alternative Dish!
I've been creating vegan recipes and enjoying a plant-based diet for over 7 years. I've also lived with food allergies to eggs, dairy, and peanuts my entire life (and gluten and soy for quite a few years!)
But that doesn't mean I don't enjoy delicious meals every single day...often with my entire family.
I'm thrilled to share recipes, tips, and my passion for sustainable living with you on the Alternative Dish. I'm building upon an amazing collection of recipes developed by Chef Maggie. The recipes and content that you find here are based on a plant-forward, dairy-free diet. Many of the recipes are gluten-free too. (Be sure to check out Avocado Key Lime Pie and gorgeous Beet Pasta Sauce.)
What is a plant-forward diet?
What does plant-forward mean? I’m glad you asked! It’s a healthful way of cooking and eating that brings plants (fruits, veggies, legumes, grains, nuts, etc.) to the center of the plate. For meat-eaters, this means using meat as a condiment rather than the main focus of the meal.
For vegetarians, it means, well, more vegetables! Eating this way can improve your overall health while eating more than you would on a diet high in processed foods and animal products.
My goal is not to convert you to a vegan diet (although if it happens, hooray!) I simply hope to inspire people to put less meat and more veggies and other healthy foods on their plates.
